Murder case: High Court acquits three

Last Updated 14 July 2009, 16:46 IST

The High Court on Tuesday acquitted three persons in this connection.

The accused - Santosh Shetty, Alwin Pinto and Karunakar Shetty, were arrested on charges of murdering Jabbar on May 16, 2003 due to an old rivalry. Eight persons including the three were arrested following a complaint by J Vijaya, driver of the deceased.

The lower court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and the trio challenged it in the High Court.

The High Court acquitted them as the statement of the key witnesses - the wife and daughter of the deceased - was recorded three days after the incident, instead of first day of the incident.
