Last Updated 14 February 2011, 16:38 IST

Addressing a news conference here on Monday, C K Nataraj, director of the Centre said the visually impaired don’t drive the car but they would assist the drivers to identify the locations with the map and route map printed in Braille. This is indeed a novel programme and it would improve the confidence level among the visually impaired.

He said the drivers would drive the vehicle as per the directions given by the visually impaired at a speed limit of 30 km per hour. The winner would be decided on reaching the given points and time taken to cover the distance. The marks would be deducted if the drivers reach the given point before the time. The visually impaired youths after 18 years of age are eligible to participate in this event. Interested have to register their names before March 10.
