Development of border districts sought

Basic infrastructure facilities provided to the border districts of Belgaum and Bidar should be extended to Kolar as well, they demanded.

The activists gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and raised slogans against the State government. A direct rail link should be provided between Kolar and Bangalore, the members demanded.

Also priority should be accorded to Kannada name plates in the district’s government, semi government and  private organisations. The functioning of taluk administration should be strengthened.

Kolar Gold Fields and Vemagal towns should be converted as taluk head quarters.

In addition to all these, Kolar Gold Fields should be declared as a Special Economic Zone, they demanded.

Special facilities should be accorded to Kannada schools functioning in the border districts of the State.

Also, provisions should be made for the setting up of industries in the taluk, observed the Kannada Sene activists.
