Find a new place for Raj statue: HC

The BBMP had violated the resolution passed by it and was preparing to install it in front of Rani Chennamma. In a public interest litigation by G V Puttegowda, City based advocate and party in person had moved the High Court against the BBMP’s decision to install the statue in front of the existing statue of the freedom fighter. The petitioner has said that the BBMP had earlier passed a resolution that the statue will be installed in such a way that it will not block the warrior queen’s statue. But the Palike had gone ahead preparing for the installation in front of the statue.

The division bench comprising CJ P D Dinakaran and Justice V G Sabhahit  sought to know about the resolution. When the counsel admitted that it was against the resolution, the division bench recorded his statement and directed to abide by the resolution. Failing this, the bench said  it would initiate contempt proceedings.
