The incentives for SSLC girl students belonging to SC/ST category now come with a rider.

The CM said that the girls will receive the money only after producing a certificate proving that they will be continuing their education.

The money will be deposited in a joint account with the parent. Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri said that the money would be sent to the Principals of the respective schools in ten days time.

The government is also looking at hiring 4,900 teachers for primary and secondary education and the process which is likely to start later this month, is expected to be completed in six months time. As a stop gap arrangement, the Government is looking at hiring guest teachers and lecturers to the colleges.

The Government has also directed the Department of Higher Education to start the new University at Davangere during the current academic year.
