All India Scholarship test

Gateforum is organising an All India Free Scholarship Test for the aspirants of GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) on July 19 in over 35 cities across the country including Bangalore.

The test will be conducted in the new pattern which has been introduced in 2009. The test will be conducted in the engineering disciplines of Computer Science and Information Technology, Electronics and Communciation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

By taking the test, aspirants of GATE will be able to evaluate their performance by comparing their scores with students from all over the country. The results of the test in terms of all India rank and percentile score will be available on the website www.gateforum.com.

Based on the performance in this test, students will be given scholarships for any of the Gateforum packages - Classroom Coaching, eTutor (online coaching), Correspondence Course, All India Test Series and Online Test Series.Top rankers in each city would be given scholarships upto 50 per cent for any Gateforum package they choose. More than 600 scholarships will be available across India based on the July 19 test, a press release said.

Higher education directory

The house of Malayala Manorama has come out with their annual directory on education 'A Directory of Higher Education 2009'. The directory contains information about the top institutes along with the courses offered by them to help students plan their higher education in top institutes.

There are 40 new courses that have been included in the new directory including courses like Aeronautical Engineering, Animation, Fashion Technology, Legal Studies and others.

The exclusive section on engineering gives a complete list of AICTE approved engineering colleges in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The 416-page directory is priced at Rs 100.

Annamalai Univ signs MoU

The Directorate of Distance Education of Annamalai University entered into an agreement with the First India School of Business, Gurgaon, to offer programmes under twinning system through distance education mode recently.

The Vice-Chancellor Dr M Ramanathan said that the Twinning Programme was an innovative concept and the partnership with First India School of Business would immensely benefit the students of North India. In this system, the students are trained and developed as business leaders to suit the requirements of global standards.

Registrar Dr M Rathinasabapathi, Director of the Directorate of Distance Education Dr S B Nageswara Rao, and Director of First India School of Business, Gurgaon Kamlesh Vyas were present on the occasion. They expressed their happiness for offering programmes which suit the industry requirements.

International Design Institute

Raffles Education Corporation, in partnership with Educomp Solutions Ltd, opened its premier design institute in Bangalore at Luskar Hosur Road near the Forum Mall recently.

This is their third campus in India after Mumbai and Delhi.

The Raffles Group currently operates three universities and 28 colleges across 10 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Raffles Millennium International (RMI) will offer certificate courses in Fashion Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Multimedia Design, Fashion Marketing and Management. In addition courses in Business Management and Tourism and Hospitality Management will also be on offer.

Admissions for the first academic session commencing in end-July has already begun. Students will be eligible for credit transfers from RMI. They may be able to eventually take the examination for a Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree from the Raffles College of Design and Commerce, an accredited deemed university in Australia. Chief Guest for the occasion, leading fashion designer Manoviraj Khosla and Animation & Design Guru Phani Tetali, inaugurated the campus in presence of Chew Hua Seng, CEO, Raffles Education Corp., Singapore and Shantanu Prakash, MD & CEO Educomp Solutions Ltd.

Gulabi School turns 50

Gulabi School, one of the 96 schools managed by Bethany Educational Society, Mangalore, will be completing 50 years of service to the society in 2010. The school was named after Saint Therese, also called Little Flower, the patron saint of the Bethany congregation, who lived in France during the 14th century, and died at the age of 24.

Since its inception on June 1, 1960, the school has witnessed tremendous growth in terms of student strength and achievement. With the intention of making the past connect with the present and plan for the future, the Gulabi Alumni Association was formed in 2006.

The alumni can be reached at gulabitesalumini_asso@yahoo.co.in. Presently, the association has 100 registered members and has embarked on a journey to bridge the gap between the old and the new. A variety of developmental programmes for the students and the school has been planned by the alumni and will be shortly unveiled.
