Resuming at their overnight score of 79 for one, in reply to President’s XI’s first innings total of 245, City XI were 347 for six in 97 overs, a handy lead of 102 runs, when stumps were drawn here at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday.

KL Rahul, overnight 41, duly completed his half-century before being dismissed for 64. Rahul’s knock was followed by an array of useful innings with Stuart Binny (52 n.o.), Shoaib Manager (44), Kunal Kapoor (41), Devraj Patil (45) and KV Bharath (34) gatting amongst runs on an overcast day.

Left-arm spinner Vinu Narayanan was the most successful bowler for President’s XI with a two for 61 haul.

At IAF, Manish Pandey struck 82 while skipper Deepak Chougule produced an undefeated 70 as Combined XI finished at commanding 236 for three in 68 overs on a rain-curtailed day against Bangalore Zone.

After openers Bharath Chipli (52) and Pandey had laid solid foundation with their half-tons, the duminutive Chougule further consolidated Combined XI’s position with an unconquered knock.
