Assault victim succumbs to injuries at hospital

A native of Kerala, he was attacked by some miscreants while on duty in a coffee estate.  A gang of three entered the estate around 10 pm and attacked the watchman with the sharp weapons and sticks.     

Sakleshpur Rural Police have been registered a case. A team led by Inspector Ganesh is on the trail of miscreants. The last rites were performed by the estate owner as the deceased had no relatives. He had also been doing timber and pepper business and settled in the town for many years.


Meanwhile, President of Belagodu Planters Association, Y C Rurdrappa urged the police to arrest the culprits at the earliest.

Already, three to four watchmen of other estates had been assaulted by miscreants.
Last week, Bhaskaran, a watchman was severely injured in a similar incident.

He is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital. As the prices of coffee and pepper crops have increased in the market, the miscreants are trying to steal the same.

Sakleshpur Police Sub-Inspector Raju had already arrested four persons in this connection and investigations are on.
