Film screening timings to change from May 15

Last Updated 07 May 2009, 19:30 IST

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has decided to change the timings of film shows in theatres following requests from producers and film buffs. Under a new uniform policy applicable to theatres across the State, beginning May 15, only four shows will be screened.

Currently, some theatres are screening five shows a day while some don’t exceed four shows. The present timings are 10.30 am, 1.30 pm, 4.30 pm, 7.30 pm and 10.30 pm, and 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, 6 pm, and 9 pm in some theatres.

Common policy

KFCC has now decided to implement a common policy throughout the State. From May 15, the shows will be at 11.15 am, 2.30 pm, 6.15 pm and 9 pm.

KFCC president, Jayamala told Deccan Herald: “The demand for changing the timings of shows has been there for a couple of days. After discussing with the producers and complaints from public, we are going to change the timings to keep the interest of film lovers.”

Inconvenience

KCN Chandrashekar, the president of Kannada Film Producers’ Association said the
present timings were inconvenient for the public, workers, government employees and all. About 70 producers met recently to submit a requisition to change the present timings of shows.

“We had submitted a memorandum to the KFCC and the Chamber has agreed,” he said.
