26-year-old Gulfam had in a police complaint alleged last month that his father, Irshad (55), a resident of Surju village, was abducted and later murdered by the relatives of his girlfriend Rabina (18) as they were against their relationship.
Police had registered a case against five persons including Rabina's two brothers under Section 364 (abduction) and Section 302 (murder) of IPC in this connection. A panchayat was convened in this regard after which both the parties agreed to get Rabina married to Gulfam and the two entered wedlock earlier this month.
The panchayat also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on the two brothers.
