Lands measuring 3,860 square feet, 762 square feet and 490 square feet in parts had been encroached, running a hotel, bar and restaurant on KRS Road here.

A release from the office of deputy commissioner said, following complaints from the locals about the bar adding to their existing woes, they inspected the premises only to learn that a total of 5,112 square feet of land and road (originally belonging to Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) had been acquired to run the show.  What’s further shocking was even the bar was being run illegally, with some loopholes found in the licence.
The latter point came to light when the Excise officers did a check in tandem with the inspection.

Following this, the officers of various other departments too inspected the spot and it was decided to raze the building before taking the land into possession.

Led by Tahasildar Manjunath Swamy, a JCB was pressed into service to pull down the concrete structure.

Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Dr Y Manjunath, Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Secretary Vidyakumari, zonal officer Nagaraj and others visited the spot at the time of the operation.

The deputy commissioner also inspected encroachments at Alanahalli layout (survey no 41) and Kurubarahalli (Survey no 4) and other similar complaints in the immediate vicinity. He was accompanied by the Deputy Director of Survey Kulkarni.
