JOIN USSandhya Singh and Priya Singh, Class X students and both residents of Navadiya village in Bareilly district, on Wednesday committed suicide by consuming poison.
According to sources the duo, who were neighbours and also distant relatives, took the extreme step following a rift between the elders of the two families.
A few days back, Priya’s father Ashok Singh had an altercation with Sandhya’s father Virendra Singh over a piece of land following which the relationship between the families strained. The girls were asked by their respective families to stop seeing each other. They were even thrashed by elders for continuing their relationship. The duo, who went to school together on Wednesday, allegedly consumed poison during lunch break. They were rushed to nearby hospital where they were pronounced brought dead.
