Hunt for cool desi rockers!

Scores of musicians and vocalists lined up to prove their mettle and be a part of a unique Desi Rock Band, at Jnana Jyothi Auditorium.

The reality show series will showcase the process of hunting, making and rocking of India’s new Desi Rock Band.  The contestants will be judged based on performance, skills and Desipan Quotient. All the contestants can compete as individuals or as groups.
They can either sing a song or play an instrument like the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, violin, trumpet, dhol, sarangi, flute, tabla, even a thaali.

The auditions were held in different rooms, where band members of Swaratama judged on different parameters. Said Jishnu Dasgupta, who was judging vocals and keyboard, “The rock scene in India has definitely evolved, and we want to promote the distinct Indian flavour. This reality show is not only about musical talent, the participants need to have a certain presence for being groomed to be a rockstar.”

The other guests promoting the event were Ram Sampath, the music composer and vocal maestro Kailash Kher. “We want to promote Indian tradition and culture, so we are looking for musicians who can connect the youth to Indian culture through music. Also the band that would be formed will be competing at international level with 22 other international rock band, which is a huge platform for any musician.”

The grand prize includes an album deal with India’s leading record label, T-series, a music video produced by MTV, a mega concert besides a state-of-the-art instruments, to set the Indian rock scene on fire, the desi way. The contestants as they awaited the results, set up an impromptu desi concert amidst the slight drizzle, sending the spirits soaring.
