Special events for Science Day today

The Day is being observed to commemorate the conferring of the Nobel Prize for the discovery of Raman effect by Sir C V Raman.

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium has organised an exhibition of telescopes for the public between 10 am and 5 pm. Members of Association of Bangalore Amateur Astronomers will be available for explanation.

The Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants has invited students and the public to visit its farm and laboratories from 10 am to 2 pm. Scientists will explain the R&D activities of the organisation to the visitors.

The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum has organised the following programmes for high school students at 10 am: Human chain forming, fancy dress contest, open house quiz, and a popular science lecture by Prof Shobhana Narasimhan from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research.

The Institution of Engineers has organised a seminar by National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) Director Dr A Jayaraman at 5:30 pm, while the National Degree College has organised a one-day seminar on image processing at 10:45 am.
