Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced that government would pay subsidies on oil-based products such as kerosene and LPG directly to beneficiaries.
A committee under UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani would look into the issue and its recommendations would be implemented by April 1, 2010, he said.
The new approach is expected to check the misuse of subsidies.
