Alas, it was not to be Ajmal’s day as the matched ended in a draw.

The England team has been in the City for the last five days and they’d be here until after their match with Ireland on March 2. And Ajmal seems to be thoroughly enjoying his stay in the City.  “I have always had a fascination for India and its people.

We manage to snatch some time off and stray off into the City and do a little bit of shopping,” Ajmal tells Metrolife and adds, “I particularly like the UB City. It makes for a great shopping destination.”

Ajmal observes that it’s prestigious to be selected for the World Cup. He confesses that he had to work really hard to get to where he is. “It isn’t easy being a Pakistani and more so an Asian in the team. Hard work and brilliance matter most,” Ajmal says. Determined to prove his worth, Ajmal says, “I am fortunate to be part of the team. It’s a great learning experience. I would keep learning to keep progressing,” he says.

Ajmal’s father has been instrumental in getting him to where he is. “All those extra hours of workouts and hard work have been put in because of my father who has been a tremendous source of strength for me,” he points out.

When it comes to food, Ajmal isn’t choosy at all but he says he has a weakness for Japanese cuisine. “The Indian curries are familiar to me because we cook them back home. I love food in any form. But, I make sure I eat healthy stuff,” he sums up.
