<p>The Lower House on Tuesday witnessed uproar over a number of issues – like attacks on Sikhs in Haryana in 1984, caste-based census and alleged tapping of phones of former Chief Minister and AIADMK chief J Jayalaitha. <br /><br />Speaker Meira Kumar had to repeatedly adjourn the House. Though the government accepted the opposition’s demand for a JPC to probe the 2G scam, the LS continued to witness frequent disruptions. The House was relatively calm when Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee presented the Budget on Monday, but turbulence returned on Tuesday.<br /><br />During the entire winter session of Parliament in November-December last year, the proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had been stalled due to the stand-off between the government and the opposition over the JPC probe into the 2-G scam. The session ended on December 13 last with both the Houses transacting very little businesses.<br /><br />As soon as the House assembled for the day on Tuesday, the Akali Dal MPs trooped into the well demanding an inquiry into the alleged massacre of Sikhs in Rewari district in 1984 riots. <br /><br />The entire Question Hour was disrupted as the Speaker had to adjourn the House – first till 11:15 am and then till noon. <br /><br />After the House re-assembled, the Speaker allowed leaders of some parties to make their points briefly. Leader of the Opposition and BJP heavyweight Sushma Swaraj raised the grievances of the Akali Dal MPs, saying that they were demanding an inquiry into the alleged massacre of Sikhs in Rewari in 1984, which had come to light recently. Kumar asked the Akali Dal MPs to raise the issue during Zero Hour.<br /><br />AIADMK MP M Thambidurai demanded a statement from Home Minister P Chidambaram on the alleged tapping of telephones of Jayalalitha at the order of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. <br /><br /></p>
