Elephant calf shot dead in Hunsur

The calf is around three to four months. The Forest staff, which was on their round spotted the body of the calf and informed senior officials immediately. Dr Srinivas conducted the postmortem on the spot.

Hunsur Rural Police have registered a case and are investigating. Villagers suspected that it may be same calf which was held hostage by residents of Mudaganur village protesting against attack by a herd of elephants recently, and released later into the forests by officials.
