Special funds to Govindarajnagar, C'patna: Cong takes BJP to task

The Congress also made a vain bid to move an adjournment motion. The Speaker set aside the demand of the Congress.

While making a preliminary submission on the adjournment motion sought to be moved, Congress’ D K Shivakumar said the CM, in his capacity as the finance minister, has sanctioned Rs 7.5 crore to Channapatna and Rs 36 crore to Govindarajnagar.

The government has failed to utilise the funds sanctioned in the budget. Just keeping the by-elections in view, the CM has sanctioned special grants which is incorrect.

The Congress will launch an agitation in this regard, he said. Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah said that such bad practice has not been seen in the history of Karnataka itself. During the Chamundeshwari by-elections, the practice of giving special funds commenced.

“Civil works that are taken up keeping the electoral gains in view are illegal”, he said.
The Congress leaders said that giving special grants amount to luring the voters.
