<p>He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Lok Adalat and Legal Awareness’ programme organised for agricultural debtors, jointly by District Legal Services Authority, Bar Association and State Bank of Mysore (SBM) in Chamarajanagar .<br /><br />Urging advocates to encourage debtors to take their cases to Lok Adalats, the judge said that it would help both bank and borrowers. <br /><br />He said if a case is settled through arbitration, then the number of cases pending in courts would reduce drastically. Assistant general manager, State Bank of Mysore, Kumaraswamy said those who took agricultural loans should settle the cases through negotiations. As the decision made in Lok Adalat cannot be questioned, the time of both the bank and borrowers would be saved, he added. When people approach the bank, it was not possible for them to reduce loan amount but, it was possible in lok adalats as the judges can ask banks in this regard. He urged the banks to approach Lok Adalat for the speedy disposal of cases.<br /><br />Bar Association President K M Srinivasamurthy, Judge K S Gangannanavar, Radhakrishna, Bar Association Secretary K Puttaswamy, NABARD Assistant General Manager K L Vinay, SBM Branch Manager B Mahanthesh Patil and others were present.</p>
