Well known folk artists Chikkarasinakere Chikkaboraiah, Kumar, Mahesh performed ‘pooja kunitha’, Bheemanakere Jayanna presented ‘keelukudare’ and Rudresh performed ‘Veeraghase’ on the occasion. Various school students participated in the flag march.<br /><br />In his introductory address, writer Dr Arjunapuri Appajigowda said that ‘Nudi Theru’ began its journey from Mandya would culminate at world Kannada meet scheduled at Belagaum. <br /><br />The district administration has organised this ‘Nudi Theru’ to educate the people of the state about contribution of Mandya district in the field of literature, arts, culture, history and other cultural legacy at the world Kannada meet. <br /><br />District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Professor H S Muddegowda, Assistant Commissioner K Rangappa, Tahsildhar Chandrashekharaiah and others were present. Various folk songs competition, cultural programme was organised at Sir M V Stadium in Mandya.<br /><br />Chamarajanagar <br /><br />Zilla Panchayat President K Rajeshwari flagged off the ‘Kannada Nudi Theru’ from Chamarajanagar district at the function organised at Malemahadeshwara Hills. <br /><br />Speaking on the occasion,she said that world Kannada meet would be the best platform to find solutions for the problems Kannadigas are facing in the contemporary scenario. Such events help protect the language, culture, border and other areas.
