Two Indonesian fighter jets ordered the plane to land Monday in the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar city of Sulawesi province, Geo News reported.
According to the local air force chief, the plane was allowed to resume its journey to Islamabad after showing the relevant documents.
A PIA spokesman said the Pakistan embassy in Indonesia has been informed about the "forcible landing" of the plane.
Daily Times quoted a PIA official as saying that the Boeing 737 was chartered by the UN to bring back peacekeepers from East Timor, and might have strayed off course due to bad weather.
