Cong, JD(S) oppose religious Bill

JD(S) leader Y S V Datta said the State government wants to keep mutts and temples out of the purview of the proposed Bill that seeks to amend rules on management of religious charitable institutions in the State.

“The government is acting contrary to its statement in an affidavit filed before the Supreme Court. The government had informed the court that it would bring all mutts and temples under the proposed legislation,” he said.

Moreover, the Bill is against the recommendations of the Rama Jois Committee, which was set up to suggest changes in the management of religious charitable institutions.
