No repairs at illegal places of worship: DC

In a press release here, he said the State government has sent a circular directing officials of the departments including Mysore City Corporation, Mysore Urban Development Authority, National Highways, Public Works Department and Revenue Department to take steps that no illegal place of worship come up in their jurisdiction. The circular followed directions from the Supreme Court. The officials concerned would be held responsible in case such illegal structures come up.

The DC said the circular also prohibits repair and developmental works of illegal places of worship as they have not been regularised till date. It has been observed that repair work is being carried out at a place of worship inside the MCC Park adjacent to office of police commissioner. The assistant commissioner has been entrusted with the responsibility of taking action on those who take up repair or renovation work of the illegal places of worship. The officials of local bodies should be vigilant in their respective jurisdiction, he added.
