Scoring a major success in their bid to flush out the dreaded Naxalites from their strongholds before the Assembly elections, the joint forces on Thursday killed a senior Maoist leader Sasadhar Mahato and injured another.
Sasadhar, brother of imprisoned PCAPA convener Chattradhar Mahato, is widely believed to be behind major Maoist attacks in Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore districts.
