Addressing the protesters, Association President K V Kallesh said the teachers whose lives are dependent on their salary are in troubled waters as they are not receiving the salary since six months. “We want the Zilla Panchayat to release the salary immediately and allow the teachers to carry on with the school activities,” he urged.

Zilla Panchayat President Prafulla Manjunath who arrived at the spot accepted the memorandum from the teachers.

The protesters had exchanged words with the Education Department Manager Deve Gowda and collected the information. He assured the protesters of transferring the amount of Rs 52 lakh from the non-planned expenditure account to the salary account.

The protesters withdrew the protest only after the Zilla Panchayat President guaranteed them of releasing the total salary worth Rs 1 crore immediately.
