M'rastra ropes in Kakodkar to educate MLAs on Jaitapur

But the state government did not stop at the governor’s address alone.  It has roped in former Atomic Energy Commission chairman Dr Anil Kakodkar to educate legislators about the nuclear plant.

Kakodkar told the sitting as well as former legislators that Jaitapur power plant will be located on a plateau, at much higher level from the sea coast than the nuclear plants in Japan.

“Compared to Japan, the seismic activity is very less in India. In Japan, there are 54 reactors in seismic zone four and five. In USA, there are 10 reactors in seismic zone five. While Jaitapur is in seismic zone three,” he said.

Kakodkar’s lecture was attended by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who also happens to be an MLC.
