The Corporation, in the tender floated on Friday last week, says that the option of increasing the supply of the cards by 50 per cent, subject to demand is also kept open.

Official sources in the BMRCL told Deccan Herald that a commuter can have the Metro-BMTC smart cards recharged at a local mobile services retail shop or at the Namma Metro ticket counters. People with SBI accounts can recharge their cards both using net banking facility and ATM centres.

The BMRCL has floated tenders inviting bids comprising the qualification, technical, financial proposals from prospective mobile companies for qualifying as phone partner to Namma Metro including for Electronic Recharge of Namma Metro contactless smart cards (CSC) through their distributor/retail network in Bangalore. The qualified bidders, sources said, will be required to make a presentation before the technical proposal evaluation committee constituted by BMRCL and that only those who score 70 marks or above in the evaluation will be invited for opening of the financial bids.

The bidder, whose financial proposal is most advantageous to BMRCL would be selected as the exclusive mobile phone partner by BMRCL for the period specified in contract, subject to fulfilment of certain terms and conditions. The operator selected through the bid process will be required to enter into an agreement with BMRCL.
