Sumith of Old Madras Road, New Binnamangala, and his brother were driving in their jeep around 6.15 pm when the vehicle accidentally brushed against Akhil Joshi (20) and Mohammad Ishaq (19), students of BBM I at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College.

A row ensued. Sumith yelled at the youngsters for walking on the road. The students shouted at him and his brother for rash driving.

An angry Sumith got out of the car to scuffle with the teenagers, when one of them suddenly took out a push button knife and stabbed him.

"Sumith was bleeding profusely. The incident triggered a  traffic hold-up as passersby gathered around the spot," Mani Kumar, a parking attender who witnessed the incident, told Deccan Herald.

Police rushed to the spot and took the youngsters into custody. Sumith was taken to the St Philomena's Hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable.  Ashok Nagar police have booked a case under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
