'LeT operatives provided transport, funds to 26/11 attackers'

The second chargesheet against the five men -- Lakhvi, Lashkar-e-Toiba's communications expert Zarar Shah, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jamil Riaz and Abu al-Qama -- was filed by the Special Investigation Group of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), which probed the Mumbai attacks, in a Rawalpindi anti-terror court on Saturday.

The chargesheet states the five suspects provided transport, boats, financial aid, accommodation and a computer network to attackers who killed more than 180 people in Mumbai, media reports said.     

The FIA also submitted the confessional statement made by Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist arrested for the attacks, to an Indian magistrate.

Judge Baqir Ali Rana of anti-terrorism court no 2, who is conducting the trial of the five LeT men in the high-security Adiala Jail, declared 13 suspects as "proclaimed offenders" for their alleged role in the terror attacks carried out in November last year.

They are Muhammad Amjad Khan, Qafa, Riaz Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Younis, Atiq-ur-Rehman, Abu Hamza, Muhammad Mushtaq, Muhammad Sabir Sulfi, Abdul Shakoor, Muhammad Usman, Muhammad Khan, Shakeel Ahmed and Abdul Rehman.     

The trial of the five LeT operatives resumed yesterday following the appointment of Rana as the new judge for anti-terror court number 2. After the submission of the supplementary chargesheet, Rana adjourned the case till July 25.     

At the next hearing, the court is expected to take up an application from the accused seeking certified copies of the First Information Report and other related documents.
Earlier on May 5, the court had distributed copies of the first chargesheet among the suspects.
