Q I am 19 years old and I had a facial wax done recently. I was wondering if that could make my skin loose and wrinkled? A few pimples have erupted on my cheeks.  Will the hair on my face stop growing at some point?

A Your skin could be oily or sensitive to wax. However, you could make a paste of sandalwood, cinnamon (dalchini) powder with a little lemon juice and a few drops of honey. Apply it on the pimples. Leave it on for a few hours before rinsing with water.

*You may try the following remedies to discourage facial hair growth. Make a thick paste of sugar, lemon juice and water and apply it in the direction of hair growth. Wash off with warm water when it dries. Apply this once or twice a week on the specific area.

*Apply a paste of turmeric powder and milk and rub it into the skin. This is believed to control facial hair growth to a certain extent, but it may leave a yellowish tinge on the skin. Use whole turmeric to make the paste.

Q I am a 24-year-old girl and I have lots of scars on my cheeks. I also have oily skin. I have tried a lot of home remedies. I have got many good proposals for marriage but because of my scars, the proposals fall through.

A I suggest that you consult a qualified skin specialist at the earliest. Apply sunscreen before going out. You could opt for a Veg Peel treatment or exfoliation at a skin care salon in consultation with your dermatologist. Add a pinch of turmeric to cold milk and apply on the scars to soothe and soften the skin. Since you have oily skin, mix multani mitti with rose water into a paste and apply twice or thrice a week on the face, avoiding the lips and the area around eyes. Wash it off when it is dry.
