Earlier in the day, a French military spokesman confirmed to Xinhua that the nuclear aircraft carrier is expected to join the campaign against Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
According to local reports, the giant ship, carrying 2,000 marines on board, will get to the Libyan coast in 36-48 hours.
The aircraft carrier also has over 20 warplanes, including fighter jets such as Mirages and Super Etendards, HawkEye early warning aircraft and jet helicopters, according to reports.
