Poor results: Teachers to face music

SSLC: The coaching aims at honing students better

Medical Education and District In-charge Minister S A Ramdas, who opened the centre said that the district education department would act tough against the teachers and the head masters of the schools which record poor show in the SSLC results this year. While, the teachers of schools which fare well with better results, would be rewarded.

He expressed concern at the big number of students who had failed in  pre-preparatory examination despite giving  special tuition in schools. “There are 4,000 children who have failed in the pre-preparatory. Many of these students sans  knowledge of tables and Kannada or English grammar,” he remarked.

He said the training programme, Preparatory Learning Centre aims at improving the learning skills of the poor students. Expert teachers will conduct the classes to help students hone their skills. These students would also be provided with learning materials to brush up their writing skills. About 10,000 students drawn from across the district would attend the programme in the coming days, he added.  The Minister informed that the education department would start such training programmes immediately after the mid-term examination from the next academic year.

“We have asked the departments not to rush the squad team inside the examination halls and demoralise the students. While, the invigilator are also asked to boost the confidence level of students by way of seeking their introduction and involving them in good talk 15 minutes ahead of  examination,” he said.

ZP Vice-president Dr Shivaramu, South BEO R Raghunandan, President of  ZP Standing Committee on Education and Health Siddaveerappa and others were present.
