Now, HDK to file tax evasion plaint against CM's kin

Addressing reporters, he said he would file the complaint in a week’s time with all documentary evidence, seeking a thorough probe.

“I have all documents to prove that Yeddyurappa has taken crores of rupees as bribe to denotify valuable land. If he (Yeddyurappa) has any documents against me, let him also produce them before the Union Finance Ministry,” he said.

Kumaraswamy alleged that the Chief Minister had denotified about 221.34 acres of land and the State exchequer had incurred a loss of Rs 3,768 crore as a result. The Chief Minister’s family members had taken bribe to the tune of Rs 500 crore for denotifying land.

“Some senior Congress leaders, including D K Shivakumar and G Parameshwara, are also beneficiaries of denotification. Hence, they keep issuing statements against the JD(S),” he said.

The former chief minister refuted allegations that his family members had purchased denotified land and later sold them for higher prices. But he admitted that he denotified 273 acres when he was the chief minister. Kumaraswamy rejected the charge that it was during his tenure as chief minister that the Upper Bhadra irrigation project was approved and the contract awarded to RNS Infrastructure consortium. He released documents to support his claim and alleged that all approvals were given in 2008 when Yeddyurappa was the chief minister.

‘BSY must have been drunk’

On Monday, it was the turn of Kumaraswamy to admit that his family runs a Trust. But, according to him, it is not cash rich.

Reacting to Yeddyurappa’s allegation that Jnanasweekara Foundation of his family members had received Rs 250 crore as donations when he was the CM, the JD(S) leader said, “It is true that H Kavitha, wife of H D Balakrishne Gowda, has been running the Trust. But it has not received any donations from anybody. The Trust has so far made transactions worth Rs 13 crore and it has outstanding loans of Rs 12 crore. Yeddyurappa must have been drunk when he made the baseless allegation,” Kumaraswamy said, releasing the balance sheet of the Trust.

On allegations of fraud by registering himself as director of Kasturi Media in three different names by the chief minister’s political secretary B J Puttaswamy, he charged Puttaswamy with twisting facts. He had released fake documents to the media, Kumaraswamy said.
