Gujarat assembly adjourned over Wikileaks cable on Modi

The Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil, at the beginning of the question and answer session, said that the Congress has accessed a cable, released by the Wilileaks, of the US Consul General of Mumbai which said that there was a 'big ticket corruption' in Gujarat.

However, Gohil could neither provide copy of the leaked cable nor did he able to clarify from where he has accessed it. Gohil demanded in the house that there should be immediate discussion on the issue of the cables released by the Wikileaks.

Speaker Ganpat Vasava said that he would grant time to Opposition to have a debate on the issue of leaked US cables only after the question and answer session is over.
The opposition was not satisfied with the reply of Speaker and started raising anti-government slogans following which Vasava adjourned the house for an hour.

The BJP legislators also started raising slogans against the alleged corruption committed by the Congress party at the national level. Congress members later shouted slogans in the lobby of the house against chief minister Narendra Modi and the state government.

Gohil later told reporters that he has accessed a cable, released by Wikileaks, of the US consul general without mentioning the sources. "The cable says that there is a big ticket corruption in Gujarat," he said.
