'Sharanas thoughts can inspire human beings'

Speaking at Shanthamalla Swamy Endowment Lecture organised by district Kannada Sahithya Parishat, Mahadevapete Mahila Sahakara Sangha here on Wednesday, he said Sharanas’ preachings give inspiration to humanlife. They are progressive thinkers of 12th century. When Varnashrama system was prevalent in society, Sharanas tried to build a society based on humane thoughts barring caste, creed, colour. Sharanas created a history in the country.”

“Now once again walls are being built between the relationships in the world. There is no value for relationships. Sharanas had played a vital role in preserving human values,” he recalled.

“The paths lead by Sharanas are guiding lamp to us. They give us the direction at all the time. Along with the knowledge, one need to love each other,” he said.

Inspite of poverty, Shanthamalla Swamiji had promoted Kannada activities in Virajpet. Though he did not write articles, he never used to sleep without reading a book. A sum of Rs 5,000 will be given to the District Kannada Sahithya Parishat for organising a lecture in memory of Shanthamalla Swamy, the seer added.

Nellyahudikeri Government PU College Lecturer K Rohith said that human beings are moving away from not only Vachanas, but also from its values.
