SC ask states to deal firmly with Jat stir

The Supreme Court on Thursday asked Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan governments to ensure that supply of essential commodities, including water, was not affected to Delhi by the on-going Jat agitation.

A Bench of Justices Altmas Kabir and Dalveer Bhandari also took a serious view of the statements of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana chief ministers. “We make it clear that while citizens have right to protest, we also make it clear that resorting to such steps should not lead to disruption of supply of essential commodities,” it said.
