Signature tune released

Nehar Kiran Dabade, the composer of the tune, was chosen as the winner of the competition that the BMRCL held. The competition had attracted 101 entries of which 10 made it to the finals.

Dabade was also given a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000, after being chosen by the jury comprising light music singer Malthi Sharma, light and classical singer Madhu Mohan, music composer N S Prasad and R T Kulkarni of All India Radio.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Dabade said: “After I went back to Chennai having visited the mock-up metro train, I spent just half an hour before I came up with this tune.”

The tune, he claims and the judges agree, represents the modernity of Bangalore in a very soothing way.

Dabade is a freelancing composer in Chennai and has also composed 25 rhymes or jingles in a project called ‘rhyme school’. He said that Katrina Kaif had done the voice-over and composer A R Rahaman had been closely working with the project.

Being a mechanical engineer, it is the passion that drew Dabade to music and his parents Kiran B Dabade and Archana cannot be less proud of that fact.

On whether he was confident of winning, he said: “I felt happy after I heard what I had composed and that is it...”
