Plastic ban gets good response: DC

According to a press release issued by the DC, owing to the environmental hazards caused due to the plastic usage, the usage of plastic was banned in the CMC premises since March 2. The plastic usage has been already controlled upto 90 per cent, he said.

In order to solve confusion among the public over the usage of 40 micron plastic, it was decided in the recently held meeting to ban plastics of all kind. The district administration has rejected the plea of the traders to permit them to use 40 micron plastics while packing the goods, he clarified.

Meanwhile, he said the CMC will inform the public about the types of plastics which have been banned by the administration. A task force will always be ready to conduct raids on the shops and other places. If the plastic users are financially strong then a fine of Rs 200 will be levied immediately.

The release informs that the shop owners must submit the information related to the amount of plastic storage, to the district administration. “We would request the Milk Federation to find an alternative for milk sachets,” he said.
