No pressure on Lokayukta police wing, says Hegde

Last Updated 26 March 2011, 11:30 IST

"There is no pressure. We will not succumb to any pressure. The court has asked us to investigate. We will submit the report as per the time limit set by the court", Hegde told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

He said the Lokayukta police would decide on the issue of registering FIR against Yeddyurappa. The court had on March 24 ordered Lokayukta police to inquire into allegations in the first complaint against Yeddyurappa and others and submit its findings by May 4.

The first of the five complaints by two advocates relates to alleged denotification of lands allegedly to favour Yeddyrappa's sons-- B Y Raghavendra, MP, B Y Vijendra and son-in-Law Sohan Kumar and their illegal sale by them. Lokayukta police while commencing the process of seeking legal opinion on the court order, said they expected a response by March 28.

"We are eliciting legal opinion from our legal cell on filing FIRs with regard to allegations in light of the Special Court order. We expect the response by Monday, after which we will decide the further course of action", Additional Director General of Police Lokayukta, Rupak Kumar Dutta told PTI.

Lokyukta police were served the Special Court's order yesterday. The court had directed Lokayukta police to complete the enquiry and submit a report by May 4 on the first complaint by the advocates, alleging that the Chief Minister indulged in irregularities in denotifying lands acquired by BDA to favour his family members.
