Rs 125 cr earmarked for Somwarpet, informs Chief Minister

Speaking after laying foundation stone to various development programmes organised by the district administration, PWD, Labour department, education department, minor irrigation department and department of Rural Development at Aloor Siddapura, he said this year, the budget was Rs 83,319 crore.

By presenting a separate agriculture budget, the government has shown the people that the government is giving empahsis to the rural development. There was no shortage of funds for development works in the State. At the same time, the government is mobilising the resources, he added.

As the previous governments had failed to stress on rural development and education, the State could not see any development in the field. The CM said a sum of Rs 125 crore has been earmarked for the development works in the taluk. Additional funds will be released for the development of Kodagu in the next two years, he added.

Promises

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa promised to release additional funds for the promotion of tourism, Rs 50 crore for the development of road, special grant to check wild elephant menace, special programmes for coffee growers, funds for drinking water schemes, solution to row over Baane land, setting up of Thimmaiah Memorial Bhavan, Gandhi Bhavan, grants for the development of Talacauvery and Bhagamandala.

MLA M P Appachu Ranjan, Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah, District-in-Charge Minister C H Vijayashankar others were present.
