CM directs DC to submit report on the same

Speaking at an interaction with the organic farmers at Kambibane on Saturday, he directed the Deputy Commissioner to submit a report on the same.

Somwarpet organic farmer Muddaiah said “the title deed says that children are the heir to the property after the death of the owner. However, as it does not mention the division of the property among children, they find it difficult to get financial assistance from the banks.”

Replying to it, Chief Minister said: “I have proposed the same question in the budget. The government will find a solution at the earliest.”

He assured to recommend the Ponnampet Agriculture Research Centre to conserve varieties of paddy seeds and added that the State government will urge the Centre to include agriculture under MGNREGS.

Madikeri taluk’s Shivakmar said that the state has banned endosulfan. However, it was available in the market. To which, Yeddyurappa said that the Deputy Commissioners should initiate measure to check the sale of endosulfan. Strict action must be initiated against the culprits. Even the Prime Minister has been urged to take measure against endosulfan.

He said measures will be taken to set up ‘Yuva krishi balaga’ in high schools and colleges at the earliest. “I will write to the education department to provide training in agriculture to high school and college students during the harvesting period. Diploma in agriculture will be started and the government aims at training 4,000 persons in a year. The government is planning to provide the trainers with a stipend of Rs 1,000.”

A woman in the interaction urged the CM to extend Suvarna Bhoomi scheme to all the farmers. The CM said in alighter tone that the Union government has not given the permission to print currency. He said “the project will benefit 10 lakh small and marginal farmers. The decision to extend the scheme to all the farmers will be decided by looking into the financial status of the government.”
