Indian team gets motivated by explorer's tales

The Johannesburg-born Horn, who has been working on and off with the Indian team since 2010, is here at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium and is helping the players to stay focused ahead of the crucial game.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said the Switzerland-based Horn’s presence has helped the team stay calm. "He is a great guy to be with. I don’t think most of the Indians know about him and what he has done. He is an explorer basically. And what he has achieved as an explorer, most of us won't even think about it," said Dhoni.

"He just shares his experiences with us. Most of the people are confused whether he is there to motivate the team. I think the team is very well motivated. Actually he shares his experiences with us and that what inspires us,” he said.

"His experience actually defies the human limits. His experiences tell us that we can really push ourselves and do it. He loves the team and has been a part of support staff on quite a few series," said Dhoni. Mike Horn was elected a member of the Laureus World Sports Academy in January 2007 in recognition of his ground-breaking achievements that reflect the triumph of the human spirit against daunting odds.
