ITI students take to streets for original certificates

Last Updated 29 March 2011, 17:42 IST

The students, who took out a protest march through several roads in the town, alleged that Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) near the Hanumanthapura gate on the outskirts of the town had issued only temporary certificates to its students since 2007-08. Even these certificates are filled with several discrepancies, they complained.

As a result, all of the 120 students, who had received these temporary certificates, had failed to find jobs. The students demanded the authorities to immediately take back the temporary certificates and issue the original certificates.

They also threatened to intensify their stir if the department fails to ignore their demands.

Student leaders Venkatesh, Munindra, Srikanth, Shiva, Nagesh, Ravichandra, Manjunath, Kavitha, Uma, Anjali, Sandeep, Vidyasagar and others were present.
