The department of public instruction has made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the exam, according to block education officer (BEO) N Venkatarama Reddy.

The Government Pre-University College, Government Pre-University Girls’ College, JSS High School, KLE Educational Institutions, Vivekananda Educational Institutions, Government Pre-University College, Tekal (one and two), Government Pre-University College, Masti (one and two) and Government Pre-University College, Lakkur are the 11 centres in the taluk.

‘70 per cent’

The taluk had recorded 60.35 pass percentage in last year’s SSLC exam and a pass percentage of 70 is expected this academic year.

Including repeaters in the government, aided and unaided high schools, there are 3,503 candidates taking the exam in the taluk this year. Of these, 1,761 are boys and 1,742 are girls. Local mobile squads have been formed to prevent malpractices during the exams.

Two sitting squads have been formed per exam centre, in addition to the 224 supervisors. Special night classes have been taken for students in the taluk this year to improve the pass percentage.

As many as four preparatory exams have been held as a step in this direction. Review meetings of teachers were held on the second Saturday every month.

‘Prepare in advance’

The BEO has called upon the students to face the exams without fear and keep all the necessary stationery ready one day in advance to avoid last minute tensions.

Reddy hoped that the taluk would occupy the first position in the district in the SSLC examination.
