Students take oath to fight corruption

As the fight against corruption gained momentum due to noted social activist Anna Hazare's fast-unto-death, Bangaloreans in great numbers came out in his support by staging a similar protest at Freedom Park. The protesters kept away politicians from the movement saying that it is a people's movement against corrupt politicians and bureaucrats who have snatched the basic rights of common man.

Under the banner of India Against Corruption, the protesters raised slogans, sang patriotic songs and delivered lectures seeking mass public support for the cause.

Dr Meenakshi Bharath of Citizens’ Action Forum said it is time for Indians to wake up and end corruption.

“It is we who encouraged corruption and it is we who can end corruption. Our movement will continue till the Jan Lokpal Bill is cleared.”

Quoting the famous maxim, Dr Bharath said: “There is enough for everyone's need but there is nothing for everyone's greed.”

Students from New Horizon School took oath that they would not allow corruption go unchecked in the country.

“We will neither give nor take bribe. We will not encourage this practice to continue in this country,” the students pledged.
