Rally marks World Health Day

With April 7 being celebrated as World Health Day an alert has been sounded on the improper use of antibiotics leading to antimicrobial resistance among people. Doctors and nursing college students from various colleges took out a procession in city. Students from government nursing college, the Gopala Gowda nursing college and other nursing schools assembled at the District Health office at Nazarbad and took out an awareness rally. The students held placards discouraging unnecessary and improper use of antimicrobial drugs. The placards also read a piece of advise for pharmacists not to dispense antibiotics sans prescription.

Meanwhile, the students and teachers of Vikram School of Nursing also held a rally from the college premises to the Mathrumandali circle. The students held placards to create awareness on the steps to be initiated to prevent microbial resistance to antibiotic drugs.
The JSS Nursing college organised a programme at the hospital premises to educate common man on the causes and effects of antimicrobial resistant.
