In Hassan, citizens, students, religious leaders and others took part in one-day symbolic protest held in front of the deputy commissioner's office. The members of bar association, dalit forums, women's organisations and party workers participated in the protest.
The demonstration was started after garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Managundi Mutt Seer Basavanandaswamy, who spoke on the occasion, compared Hazare's stir to that of freedom struggle.
Lakhs of people across the nation have hit the streets in support of Hazare, as they were fed up with corruption.
That bill was necessary to ensure transparency as well as to bring accountability in the government.
In Mandya, the members of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha held a bike rally.
The leaders of various organisations have decided to hold a massive agitation on April 11. Veteran freedom fighter Surendra Koulgi will lead the stir. This was decided at a meeting held here. Prof G T Veerappa, Dr Prahaldrao and others have urged the Union Government to provide teeth to Jan Lokpal Bill to root out corruption.
They appealed youths and students to participate in large number. The members of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Trust have extended their support.
In Chamarajanagar, members of various forums, under the banner Progressive Organisations, staged a protest in front of Deputy Commissioner Office. Representatives from various organisations participated. In the evening, senior citizens took out a candle light rally.
