Elaborate arrangements for counting of votes

A meeting was conducted at the deputy commissioner’s office, here on Friday, in view of the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections which will be held on May 16.

The meeting was presided by District Election Officer and D C N Prabhakar, which was attended by the superintendent of police, tahsildar and the candidates who contested the Lok Sabha elections.

The deputy commissioner appealed to all the political parties and agents to co-operate in maintaining peace, law and order in the district. The counting of votes will be held at the premises of the Government Boys First Grade College. The counting will begin from 8 am onwards.

Counting desks

Total 118 tables had been organised for the counting fo votes. Total 14 desks for Shidlaghatta, Chintamani, Kolar Gold Fields and Kolar Lok Sabha constituencies, respectively, while, total 16 desks have been allotted for Srinivaspur and Mulbagal taluks, respectively.

The counting of votes had been distributed booth-wise and desk-wise. The candidates and the election agents are instructed to be present at 7.30 am, near the Strong Room, before the transfer of EVMs of the respective Lok Sabha segments will take place, the DC informed.

The counting of votes of the 224 booths of Shidlaghatta Lok Sabha constituency will be completed in 16 rounds.

Methodology

The 245 booths of Chintamani an 275 booths of Srinivaspur will be completed in 18 rounds, while the 256 booths of Mulbagal will be completed in 16 booths, 217 booths of Kolar Gold Fields will be completed in 16 rounds, 227 booths of Bangarpet in 17 rounds, 249 booths of Kolar constituency will be over in 16 rounds and 219 booths of the Malur Lok Sabha constituency will be completed in 16 rounds, the deputy commissioner explained.

The respective tahsildars had been instructed to send the votes received through post.

After the counting of votes received through the post, the counting of votes through the EVMs will begin, he said.

After every round of the counting of votes, the signatures of the observers, micro-observers and supervising officials will be taken. The results will be declared after a data entry in three different softwares.
