Rs 44.5 lakh cash stolen from Jain shrine

The felons climbed over the compound of the Jain Shwethambara Mandir located on the Yajaman Range Gowda Road, opened the wrought-iron outer door and the wooden inner door of the Mandir by burning the locks with gas burners, police said.

After gaining entry, the burglars took away cash, but left the gold and silver jewellery untouched. Police are investigating a complaint from Mandir committee president Parasmal Jain.

Hassan Superintendent of Police Amit Singh, DySP J K Rashmi, Police Circle Inspector Parashuram visited the temple.

The police dog squad and fingerprint experts from Hassan too visited the spot to collect evidence.
